Full Description
(Ballweg/Grothman) Under current law, the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System (board) consists of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, the president or another member of the Technical College System Board, 14 citizens members, and two student members who satisfy specified requirements.
This bill creates an additional requirement for student members. Under the bill, the governor may not appoint a student member who is enrolled in an institution in which the previous student member was enrolled when he or she was appointed.

NEUTRAL. The Legislature and the Governor should have the prerogative to determine the appointment process and membership of the Board of Regents.
