AB 397

Appropriation for UW Platteville buildings

(Loeffelhoelz) This bill adds one project to the 200-05 State Building Program using $5,000,000 of existing program revenue supported borrowing. The project is the purchase of the Governor Dodge Hotel and Convention Center in the city of Platteville for use by the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. The bill also provides funding for potential remodeling of the facilities.

SUPPORT: This bill enables the Board of Regents, with approval of the Wisconsin State Building Commission, to purchase the hotel buildings and property for a residence hall. The bill would not increase authorized borrowing because the funding would come from savings that has occurred in other program revenue funded projects. Before the purchase occurs the property will satisfy board and building commission polices governing property acquisition. The price, subject to appraisals, is estimated to be $2,500,000 with the remainder available for remodeling.
