UW System Position on Bills Introduced in the Legislature During the 2005-2006 Session
(Kestell). Requires each appointing authority of an agency in the executive branch of state government including the UW System to conduct a criminal history background investigation of an applicant for a position.

SUPPORT AS AMENDED BY ASA 1: The requirement to conduct a criminal history background check would be costly to administer with regard to all job applicants. The bill as amended limits the provisions to those applicants who have fiduciary responsibilities and to whom a job will be offered.
