Since December 1999, Deborah A. Durcan has served
as Vice President for Finance with the University
of Wisconsin System. In this role, she serves as
Chief Financial Officer to the Board of Regents,
the President, and the UW System Institutions and
Administration. Her understanding of complex financial
rules helps the UW System develop sound financial
policies and practices, thus ensuring fiscal integrity
and the ability to achieve academic missions.
Ms.
Durcan has held a variety of financial posts within
the UW System, including Associate/Assistant Vice
President for Financial Administration (1992-1999),
Controller (1987-1992), Director of Accounting
Services/Associate Controller (1985-87), and Assistant
Director for Financial Reporting (1984-1985).
Her
credentials include a Bachelor’s of Business
Administration-Accounting from UW-Madison, as
well as accreditation as a Certified Public Accountant
(CPA) and a Certified Government Financial Manager
(CGFM). She has been an active member of several
professional associations, serving on the Board
of Directors of the Central Association of College
and University Business Officers (CACUBO) from
1996-2002. She chaired the 2004 Annual Meeting
of the National Association of College and University
Business Officers (NACUBO) and currently serves
on the NACUBO Research Universities Constituent
Council. She also represents the Regent President
on the State of Wisconsin’s College Savings
Board.
