Training Issues
What are the plans for training institution business office staff?
- The SFS project funds have been budgeted to provide formal training for up to 2 people from each institution in each module they expect to use. Staff will attend training classes at an off campus training site, or possibly in Madison for on-site classes. Training registration and travel costs are included.
What are the plans for training end-users?
- Current plans are to purchase end-user training modules, which include on-line libraries, detailed instructor guides, institutional aids and student excercises. UW staff will be trained on delivering this training, either on-site at deploying institutions or at regional sites.
When will a deploying institution receive the necessary training?
- For each module selected, an institution will be expected to have at least 1, preferably 2 business office staff attend formal training. This should be scheduled as close as possible just before the prototyping for that module and project phase begins. Prototyping will take place about 9-12 months prior to the deployment date. E.g., an institution scheduled to go live with the general ledger on July 1, 2000 (Phase 2) should plan on participating in prototyping efforts during the fall of 1999, and training that summer. End-user training will begin after prototyping is completed.
