XXV. Audit and Penalties
TERs must be audited for compliance with UW policy set forth in this document. Institution preauditors should use the steps outlined in the UW System Preaudit Manual to determine compliance with these travel regulations.
Copies of questioned transaction memos should remain attached to the TER. Transactions are subject to postaudit by UW System Administration and other entities. TERs should be date stamped when received in the institution business office.
Reimbursement of travel expenses not authorized by state statute or this document is prohibited. Any unauthorized reimbursement or payment shall be recoverable as debt from the person to whom the payment was made.
In accordance with ss. 939.50(3) and 946.12(4), Wis. Stats., intentionally falsifying or filing a fraudulent claim is considered to be a class I felony, penalty for which is a fine not to exceed $10,000 or imprisonment not to exceed 3 years and 6 months, or both.
