2000-2001 Fringe Benefit Rates
for Extramural Support Funds

Listed below are the fringe benefits rates to be used by the University of Wisconsin System institutions in charging extramural funds for the employer's contribution to fringe benefits during the 2000-2001 fiscal year.

These rates include the employer's contribution to retirement, health insurance, FICA and Medicare FICA, unemployment compensation, workers compensation, income continuation insurance and life insurance. These rates should be used in all proposals submitted to extramural sponsors on or after February 1, 2000. Multiple year proposals should include an estimated increase for future fringe benefit costs.

Please note that Project/Teaching Assistants have been combined with Research Assistants due to the 7/1/2000 change to FICA charges. The category that was previously titled "Other Grad Assistants" is now titled "Research Associates/Interns." Significantly higher health insurance cost is the main reason for higher rates in some categories. This includes coverage from the first month of employment for faculty and academic staff.
