PHASE II: 2004 - 2008Plan 2008’s ten-year time horizon was divided into two five-year segments. During the first phase of the Plan, the UW System Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI - formerly OADD) worked with the institutions to help facilitate the implementation of their individual plans. After reviewing the midpoint progress of Plan 2008 in April 2004, the Board established as a priority for Phase II the closing of gaps in retention and graduation between students of color and their white peers. The Board also asked that institutions focus on critically assessing programs to provide for continuous improvement. The Phase II institutional plans were submitted in December 2004, and included a wide range of approaches to addressing the seven goals of Plan 2008, among them the Regent focus on closing gaps in enrollment, retention and graduation. Under consideration in June 2007 is the penultimate report and evaluation of Plan 2008 (the years 1998-2007), which highlights both the progress that has been made, and the challenges that remain for the years 2008 and beyond.
