Vision Statement

To transform the University of Wisconsin System into a higher educational community that represents, reflects, respects and values diverse persons, voices and perspectives of Wisconsin.

Mission Statement

The University of Wisconsin System Office of Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion (EDI) exists to advance pluralism and transform institutional culture through the vigorous pursuit of equity, inclusion and excellence across the UW System.

EDI collaborates with UW institutions to promote equity in access, opportunity, and successful outcomes for students and employees.

EDI works to inculcate the guiding principles and philosophy of Inclusive Excellence to advance fairness and social justice, welcoming institutional environments and climate, and equitable treatment and outcomes throughout the UW System.

EDI strives to accomplish these aims for the benefit of all members of the University of Wisconsin System community to assure all have optimal opportunities to succeed regardless of individual or group identities, social and economic status, or membership in traditionally marginalized groups.

We do this work on behalf of students in the UW System in support of their personal growth, and social and intellectual development to prepare them to lead tomorrow’s increasingly interdependent, multicultural world.
