BOARD OF REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN SYSTEM

 

Minutes of the Meeting

 

January 16, 2009

Held by telephone conference

 

Present:  Regents Jeffrey Bartell, Mark Bradley, Elizabeth Burmaster, Eileen Connolly-Keesler, Judith Crain, Mary Cuene, John Drew, Michael Falbo, Thomas Loftus, Kevin Opgenorth, Charles Pruitt, Brent Smith, Michael Spector, Colleene Thomas, José Vásquez, David Walsh, and Betty Womack

Unable to attend:  Regent Danae Davis

The meeting was called to order at 2:00 p.m., at which time it was moved by Regent Pruitt that the Board of Regents move into closed session to consider appointment of Chancellors of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, as permitted by s.19.85(1)(c) and (e), Wis. Stats.

The motion was adopted on a unanimous roll-call vote, with Regents Womack, Vásquez, Thomas, Spector, Smith, Pruitt, Opgenorth, Loftus, Falbo, Drew, Cuene, Crain, Connolly-Keesler, Burmaster, Bradley, and Bartell (16) voting in the affirmative.  Regent Walsh joined the meeting after the vote was taken.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:30 p.m., the following resolutions having been adopted:

UW-Green Bay:
Authorization to Appoint:  Chancellor

Resolution 9582: That, upon recommendation of the Special Regent Committee and the President of the University of Wisconsin System, Thomas K. Harden be appointed Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, on a start date to be determined no later than June 1, 2009, at a salary of $216,000.

 

UW-River Falls:
Authorization to Appoint:  Chancellor

Resolution 9583: That, upon recommendation of the Special Regent Committee and the President of the University of Wisconsin System, Dean Van Galen be appointed Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, on a start date to be determined no later than July 1, 2009, at a salary of $200,000.
