Student Involvement in UW System - Standing Committees
Transfer Coordination Group
Description of Committee
TCG is composed of representatives from each UW institution who work with transfer students in some capacity. They are primarily from the offices of Admissions, Student Services, or Registrar. The committee deals with transfer policy issues or concerns and provide input to UW System Administration regarding potential additions or changes to systemwide policy. The committee also maintains an email list-serve to communicate about the meetings and other issues as necessary.
Logistics of Meetings
TCG usually meets in October and February.
- The October meeting is usually in Madison and face to face, though people can attend via teleconference when necessary. The meeting usually lasts from 9-noon.
- The February meeting is usually via teleconference and is two hours long.
Students are encouraged to connect with committee members from their own campus and travel with them in order to avoid travel expenses.
Benefits of Participation
Transfer students are directly impacted by system transfer policies. This committee would be of interest to any students interested in policy concerns and wanting to influence and positively affect many students, both traditional age and returning adults, because so many students transfer into or among UW System institutions. A student with transfer experience or knowledge is an ideal candidate for this committee. UW System and the committee benefit from having a student viewpoint at the table when policy matters are being discussed.
