Work/Life
Resources
- The
UW System Sloan Project for Academic Career Advancement has
created a multi-campus "laboratory" to examine how to promote
more equity, flexibility and career options for faculty and academic
staff.
The
project is examining the "dual ladder system" in higher
education, consisting of tenure track faculty members and non-tenure
track instructional and research academic staff.
- The Sloan Work and Family
Research Network was established at Boston College in 1998 with
the support of the Alfred P. Sloan foundation. This innovative Network
provides online resources related to work and family issues, supports
a community of academics and others who are interested in work-family
studies, and builds knowledge about the work and family area of study.
For additional information go to: http://www.bc.edu/bc_org/avp/wfnetwork/index.html
- Affiliation with
the Network: Affiliates receive monthly literature updates,
notices of publications, and announcements of key events. To affiliate,
simply e-mail them at: wfnetwork@bc.edu.
-
College
& University Work/Family Association (CUWFA). Membership
at CUWFA provides several benefits: an annual conference and membership
meeting devoted to work-life issues in higher education; a subscription
to CUWFANET, the electronic mail list established exclusively for
CUWFA members to support the exchange of professional information
and provide opportunities for networking; and a twenty percent discount
off the regular subscription rate for the Work and Family newsbrief,
a monthly digest of the most important work-life news from more than
11,000 publications.
