1. (Referring to the Category B Academic Staff FTE Data Report) Are the numbers on the IAS title array accurate for your institution? If not, what changes?

2. From the range of official titles that your institution uses, is there a particular rationale behind the array chosen?

3. Who decides assignment of official titles? (How is the assignment of official titles determined?)

4. Are there minimum credentials set by the institution for any of the official titles?

5. Does your institution use or assign working titles in addition to the official titles

6. What is the process for promoting staff within the instructional academic staff titling categories?

10. We understand that there are many reasons for hiring instructional academic staff, how is the decision made whether a position will be faculty or IAS? Who makes the decision?

11. Are there institutional policies or rules that guide the recruitment and hiring of IAS? What are they?

12. When you hire IAS, how is the search conducted?

13. When a tenure track faculty position opens, are IAS expected to apply through the established search procedures, or do you have a special process for considering or promoting an IAS member into the position?

14. What policies do you have regarding workload expectations (teaching/research/service) for instructional academic staff?

15. Is there an institution policy regarding the use of fixed term, probationary, and indefinite appointments?
- If yes, please describe.
- Is the policy in the academic staff personnel rules or the faculty personnel rules?

- If no, what is the institutional practice regarding these types of appointments? Please describe.
- Are schools/colleges/departments allowed to establish their own policies? If so, what are they?

16. Is there an institution policy regarding the length (e.g., one semester, one academic year, two academic years, etc.) of fixed term contracts given to IAS?
- If yes, please describe:
- Is the policy in the academic staff personnel rules or the faculty personnel rules?

- If no, what is the institutional practice regarding the length of fix-term contracts?
- Are schools/colleges/departments allowed to establish their own policies? If so, what are they?

17. Is there an institution policy regarding the continuity status (e.g., terminal, renewal, intended, and rolling horizon) assigned to fixed term IAS contracts?
- If yes, please describe:
- Is the policy in the academic staff personnel rules or the faculty personnel rules?

- If no, what is the institutional practice regarding the continuity status assigned to fixed-term contracts?
- Are schools/colleges/departments allowed to establish their own policies? If so, what are they?

18. Does the institution policy/practice allow for changes to appointment type, contract length, or continuity status, if certain conditions are met? What are those conditions?

19. Do your job security policies/practices for IAS differ from the job security policies/practices applied to other categories of academic staff? If so why?
