Discussion: Objective #1 The working group will recommend suitable revisions to the UW System IAS and RAS titling options to reflect national titling norms and trends.

a. Research national trends in titling for non-tenure track instructional and research staff [REVIEW MATRIX].

b. Propose revisions to the UW System IAS and RAS titling options that better reflect national norms and trends [REVIEW UWS ARRAY].

c. Investigate titles that better reflect the work IAS and RAS are doing [REVIEW UPG & ARRAY].

d. Monitor titling change initiatives at UW-Madison and explore how efforts might serve as a model for other institutions [BRIEFING ON UW-MADISON EFFORTS / REPORT ON OTHER CAMPUS EFFORTS].

a. Survey academic personnel officers to identify changes in policy or practice occurring subsequent to the System-wide focus group meeting [BRIEFING ON March 24, 2000 FOCUS GROUP MEETINGS]

b. Assess the degree to which recommendations for institutions made in the "Teaching Academic Staff Study" have been implemented [REVIEW STUDY RECOMMENDATIONS].

c. Identify recommendations that have been problematic for institutions to implement [DISCUSS METHODS].

d. Suggest System-wide initiatives to facilitate implementation of the study's recommendations.

e. Propose revisions to recommendations put forth in the "Teaching Academic Staff in the UW System Study" and/or develop new guidelines or guiding principles.
