In 2003, the UW System Academic and Career Advising Task Force identified advisor training and development as one of three areas of opportunity for improvement across the UW System.  As a result, a subcommittee was formed and has worked for more than a year to bring together resources from across the profession to create a "Train the Trainer" toolbox.  The framework the group created is appropriate for both professional and faculty advisors. Our goals are:

1. an overview of the components of a strong advisor training and development program;
2. the creation of a webpage that will host the materials and provide suggestions and best practices; and,
3. provide resources and materials that are easily adaptable.
